SUMMARY:Spellbound - Readings and Music (Lost Souls/Macabre Dreams)
DESCRIPTION:Would you like to try living deliciously? Want to gather with others venerating the gods of old? \n\n\n\nJoin us for a taste of witchy readings and music and to be spellbound at Gang Gang café on THURSDAY 07th MAY 2026. And help us celebrate the release of LOST SOULS Issue 03! \n\n\n\nOur storytellers will share readings inspired by that centuries old community of practice\, the “coven”. Americo Alvarenga and C. H. Pearce are to tell stories of benevolent authority and passive resistance\, and the morbid curiosity in hearing voices of the dead. Megan Cook will reflect on everyday rituals of magic. Imogen Wall will recite poetry inspired by how we make sense of magic. \n\n\n\nThe writers will be joined by singer and songwriter\, Maddie Jiang. She will perform songs inspired by darker\, country-inspired folk music. \n\n\n\nOur night also aims to help honour the Samhain (pronounced ‘sah-win’). Traditionally\, Samhain is celebrated in late April or early May in the Southern Hemisphere (31st October in the Northern Hemisphere). \n\n\n\nThis is the fifth event in the “Macabre Dreams” series hosted by Lost Souls Magazine.

SUMMARY:Dreamcastmoe (USA) w/ Samatar and naga raani
DESCRIPTION:We couldn’t be more chuffed to be hosting Dreamcastmoe. The Lost Tape series is worthy of a few spins and more. One not to be missed \n\n\n\nDreamcastmoe \n\n\n\nDreamcastmoe is a DJ\, producer\, and artist out of Washington\, D.C.\, making music that sits somewhere between R&B\, hip hop\, soul\, and whatever else feels right in the moment. Since dropping his Lost Tapes series\, he has been carving out a sound that feels personal\, loose\, and always evolving. \n\n\n\nHis music comes from real places\, his city\, his experiences\, the people around him\, and that honesty carries through everything he does. As things grow\, he stays focused on keeping it genuine and making music people can actually feel\, not just hear.

SUMMARY:Cloud Ice 9 (MELB) w/ Olivia's World + edda | Gang Gang Cafe | pres. by SONIC BUSINESS LTD
DESCRIPTION:Join Cloud Ice 9 on their first East Coast Tour. Exorcisms of apocalypse musings with a peppering of labyrinth woe. Plus Olivia’s World and edda – down at Gang Gang Cafe. \n\n\n\nCloud Ice 9 emerge from the strange\, slow-burn creative fallout of Naarm’s long lockdowns. Formed in the barns and attic sharehouses where hours of tinkering on toy keyboards evolved into a fully-fledged “hive mind.” The result is one of the most adventurous and bewildering sounds in the post-COVID Antipodes. Difficult to pin down and even harder to predict\, Cloud Ice 9 twist familiar genres into something uncanny. Fragments of post-punk\, experimental pop\, and off-kilter grooves are warped by surreal storytelling\, robot voices\, and an ever-expanding palette of oddball instrumentation. Across releases like 8 Ball (2020)\, Circus St (2020)\, and Hocus Pocus (2023)\, they’ve built a reputation for crafting immersive\, otherworldly soundscapes. Their latest LP\, Globophobia (2025)\, is a darkly humorous\, sci-fi-tinged odyssey through the absurdities of modern life. \n\n\n\nStep into the hive mind. Cloud Ice 9 are not to be missed. \n\n\n\nOlivia’s World return to Canberra with their signature style of angular post-punk and dolewave-pop. In 2025 Olivia’s World debuted full-length album Greedy & gorgeous\, the band’s third release following their two EPs Olivia’s World (2019) and Tuff 2B Tender’(2021). In Greedy & gorgeous\, a quasi-concept album about desire\, Olivia’s World inhabitants deal with the woes of pleasure-seeking and a never-ending quest for beauty. \n\n\n\nedda is a new Canberra band led by Joel Neville (Optic Nerve\, Lower Body\, Oxen\, Lapse). The band is a family – made up of spouses\, siblings\, siblings-in-law\, childhood friends\, and ancient Icelandic origins.

SUMMARY:Sex Mask
DESCRIPTION:Freshly returned from a US tour and just announced for the Sleaford Mods national tour\, we are stoked to be hosting Sex Mask at GG \n\n\n\nVague pop instilled with the ancient genius of your own blood. \n\n\n\nSex Mask holds the many trigger words your CIA handler doesn’t want you to know.  \n\n\n\nWe have several testimonials from fans attesting to semi-mystical experiences\,  \n\n\n\nsome claim it to be Deja vu from a genetic memory long dormant and locked\, \n\n\n\nOthers speak of foreshadowed flashes of a past life they are yet to have lived. \n\n\n\nAll of this\, incited after only seconds of exposure to any of our available songs. \n\n\n\nIs Sex Mask just another egregious attempt from delusional solipsists at being heard while saying close to nothing? Yes. But we make it look good. \n\n\n\nPart Taoist riddle\, part lone gun-mans manifesto.  \n\n\n\nWe are also a post punk/alt rock band from Melbourne.

SUMMARY:Purelink (NYC) w/ Umki and Discobasis
DESCRIPTION:urelink is an ambient music trio from Brooklyn\, New York City. The group\, comprised of Ben Paulson\, Tommy Paslaski\, and Akeem Asani\, formed in 2020 and has been described as an “ambient boyband.” Their debut release\, the single Bliss / Swivel\, was self-released in 2021\, with both tracks later included on the 2023 EP To / Deep. More recently in 2025 their album Faith was released\, featuring Loraine James and others. \n\n\n\nThe trio began collaborating after Ben Paulson\, known professionally as Kindtree\, and Tommy Paslaski\, known professionally as Concave Reflection\, who had previously collaborated under the name All Light Hits U\, met Akeem Asani\, who had been releasing under the name Millia\, in 2019. They began playing music together in early 2020\, using Ableton Live to link their three computers over Wi-Fi\, which inspired the name Purelink. \n\n\n\nTo have them as part of their Australian tour is a real honour for us\, we’ve been very big fans of Purelink since their first release. To say the least we highly recommend coming\, sitting listening\, and getting to hear some very special music that is hard to come by. \n\n\n\nSupports from amazing Umki and Discobasis.

SUMMARY:anaiis
DESCRIPTION:anaiis is coming to Aus and we are so happy we’re able to host her at Gang Gang. We’ve been listening to them a lot since booking them\, a special artist making some incredible music \n\n\n\nanaiis \n\n\n\nAs a teenager\, anaiis moved between France\, Ireland\, Dakar\, and the United States\, relearning languages and searching for a sense of belonging. With her music\, she’s channelled her yearning into a globe-spanning sound grounded in open-hearted empowerment and Black feminism. \n\n\n\nPerforming her latest album\, Devotion and the Black Divine\, she embraces grace\, motherhood\, and the work of nurturing her inner child. With a voice that moves from restrained falsetto to a deep\, rich alto\, she glides over reggae grooves\, warm synth chords\, and dark orchestral swells. Gospel\, R&B\, and chamber pop bend with experimental flourishes and subtle vocal glitches.

SUMMARY:Hana Stretton
DESCRIPTION:We are stoked to be working with Jet Black Cat again to present Hannah Stretton with Alice Barlow. \n\n\n\nHana Stretton is an accomplished Australian-British multi-instrumentalist\, songwriter & producer. Born and raised on a farm in New South Wales\, Hana’s early life was steeped in natural beauty and isolation\, which has become the influence for much of her music. Her work reflects a deep connection to her roots. \n\n\n\nHana made her debut record\, Soon\, outside\, in still moments after fires and wild storms had raged through her home in the Australian bush. Completely isolated with just her beloved cows and a few instruments\, recording music became a way to pass the hours. The album was self-released in January 2023\, with a vinyl run by boutique Australian label brierfield flood press. The following year\, P.W. Elverum & Sun (the private press of Phil Elvrum aka Mount Eerie) re-issued a special edition vinyl\, selling out almost instantly. Upon release\, Elvrum explained his admiration for Hana’s music: “I hear an artist who has entered completely into the stream where creation originates […] Hana Stretton has truly recorded the deep flourishing sound of a quiet listening mind in full blossom.” \n\n\n\nAlice Barlow is a singer-songwriter\, composer and producer from South East London known for her captivating live performances. Drawing on folk\, indie and alternative influences – her dark guitar tones\, haunting vocals and unique ear for melody have built a loyal following in London and beyond. With new singles on the way\, she is set to release her eagerly awaited debut album on Domino Records this winter. This will be her first time in Australia. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGang Gang is committed to an inclusive and safe experience for all. Gang Gang Cafe is wheelchair accessible with accessible restrooms. We have zero tolerance for harassment and have support measures in place to ensure everyone’s safety. For specific accessibility needs or assistance\, please contact us in advance. We aim to make our events enjoyable for everyone. \n\n\n\nGang Gang Cafe acknowledges the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people\, the Traditional Custodians of the land where our events take place. We pay our respects to their Elders past\, present\, and emerging\, and recognise their enduring connection to this land\, waters\, and culture. We are grateful to celebrate music and dance on Ngunnawal Country.

SUMMARY:Cut Worms (USA) with special guest John Andrews (USA)
DESCRIPTION:Transmitter is Max Clarke’s fourth full length record as Cut Worms\, due out March 13th via JagJaguwar. Produced by Jeff Tweedy at Wilco’s Loft studio\, Transmitter marks a deepening of Clarke’s abilities and the convergence of two artists whose work searches for grace amid dislocation. Together\, they conjure the ecstatic spirits of power pop and alt rock\, expanding Cut Worms’ vintage palette while reaffirming his gift for timeless songwriting. \n\n\n\nWhile Clarke’s voice and writing formed the framework\, Tweedy’s guitar and bass lines sketched the rooms the songs inhabit. Tweedy’s presence as a producer revealed itself not in heavy-handed choices but in how he coloured spaces and continually offered new textures. Between them\, their like-minded sensibilities bridged a generational gap to create something more nuanced than either might have made alone. \n\n\n\nNow several albums into his career\, Clarke stands fully in command of his craft\, resonating at his own frequency. What began as a passion for bygone pop has matured into a study of endurance itself\, confirming him as a singer-songwriter of lasting depth. Transmitter finds Clarke in full stride\, writing with the conviction of someone who’s made peace with uncertainty. These songs reckon with the cost of comfort and return to the idea that beauty\, connection\, and love are not luxuries but necessities for survival. \n\n\n\nJohn Andrews has spent the past few years tucked away in Red Hook\, Brooklyn – a neighborhood that sits just beyond the natural drift of the city. Once shaped by maritime industry and later a haven for artists in search of vast warehouse space\, its history and isolation give it a quiet magnetism. Streetsweeper\, the fifth album by John Andrews & The Yawns\, reflects that vantage point-tranquil\, self-contained\, and curious about the movements most people overlook. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGang Gang is committed to an inclusive and safe experience for all. Gang Gang Cafe is wheelchair accessible with accessible restrooms. We have zero tolerance for harassment and have support measures in place to ensure everyone’s safety.
