SUMMARY:Gang Gang Comedy - Alex Hudson
DESCRIPTION:Gang Gang Comedy brings you the best comedians from around the world. February brings back Winner of RAW Comedy 2022\, Alex Hudson. Local supports will be the wild Felix McCarthy\, RAW Comedy National Finalist Suma Iyer and Canberra’s favourite adopted son Carlo Ritchie. Running the evening will be the endlessly silly Chris Marlton. \n\n\n\nAlexandra has been disabled her entire life\, an experience that is rooted in misunderstanding. It manifests in odd experiences\, awkward encounters (sometimes her) and often very funny instances. She’s gone international – in 2024 to Edinburgh Fringe\, full season (and for a dabble in 2022 for So You Think You’re Funny)\, Scotland and USA with her debut show\, Making Lemonade. \n\n\n\n“It takes a sense of humour to be disabled in an able-bodied world and Hudson has a great one. Her cheek and forthright material are disarming. Don’t underestimate her laid-back vibe\, she’ll sneak in an outrageous punch line when you least expect it.” – The Age \n\n\n\n“The Tension Seeker: As a woman with disability\, Hudson draws on her experiences navigating the world to make her audience squirm.” – T Australia\, The New York Times Style Magazine\, Australia\, August 2024. \n\n\n\nDoors at 7pm for a 7:30pm show start. \n\n\n\nTix $22 online Humanitix\, $25 at the door.

SUMMARY:TOPS
DESCRIPTION:When we first started Gang Gang\, it was during COVID\, we were working everyday and TOPS were spinning a lot. To think we’ve gone from those early 25 pax covid shows to booking TOPS to play at Gang Gang is wild. \n\n\n\nCome get amongst it with us \n\n\n\nTOPS \n\n\n\nTOPS (CA) musicians David Carriere\, Jane Penny\, Marta Cikojevic\, and Riley Fleck\, write timeless music that reliably threads immediacy and depth. Bury the Key\, their first full-length since 2020 and with new label home Ghostly International\, is a captivating reintroduction for the Montréal band: ever refined\, undoubtedly masters of their melodic craft yet unafraid of evolving and testing themselves against different\, at times darker tones. The album faces feelings once locked away\, engaging the give-and-take between happiness\, hedonism\, and self-destruction.While often inhabited by fictional figures\, their glowing\, grooving\, self-produced songs draw from personal observations: intimacy (both inside and outside the band)\, toxic behavior\, drug use\, and apocalyptic dread. When recording started\, they noticed a shift and leaned in\, jokingly dubbed “evil TOPS\,” says Penny. “We’re always kind of seen as a soft band or like naive or friendly in a Canadian way\, but we made it a challenge to really channel the world around us.” Through the lens of a looming epoch and the clarity that comes with age\, TOPS dip into a more sinister disco realm with Bury the Key\, giving their soft-focus sophisti-pop a sharpened edge. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGang Gang is committed to an inclusive and safe experience for all. Gang Gang Cafe is wheelchair accessible with accessible restrooms. We have zero tolerance for harassment and have support measures in place to ensure everyone’s safety. SUMMARY:Annahstasia
DESCRIPTION:Annahstasia arrives in Australia for the first time this February\, bringing her soulful\, poetic\, and deeply intimate songcraft to stages across the country. A singular voice in contemporary folk\, she has carved her own path through patience\, independence\, and a devotion to storytelling – qualities that shape her acclaimed debut album Tether. \n\n\n\nTether is a record built slowly and intentionally\, recorded live at Valentine Studios in Los Angeles with a community of collaborators including Jason Lader\, Andrew Lappin\, Aaron Liao\, Obongjayar\, and aja monet. Across its sweeping arrangements and bare\, vulnerable moments\, Annahstasia’s voice sits at the centre: rich\, resonant\, and unguarded. Her songs navigate love in all its forms – the love we find\, lose\, resist\, and rebuild – approached with the nuance of poetry and a quiet\, assured power. \n\n\n\nIn February\, Australian audiences will have the chance to experience this world up close. Annahstasia will perform headline shows in Melbourne\, Sydney\, Perth and Canberra\, alongside special appearances at Meeniyan Town Hall\, Port Fairy Folk Festival\, and WOMADelaide. It marks her long-awaited introduction to Australian stages\, and a rare opportunity to witness an artist whose work feels both intimate and expansive. \n\n\n\nOnstage\, Annahstasia performs with the same instinct and openness that shaped Tether. Her sets move between stillness and swelling emotion\, carried by a voice that can shift from gentle warmth to something breathtakingly commanding. Each performance becomes its own moment – lived\, shared\, and fleeting. \n\n\n\nAnnahstasia’s debut Australian tour is a celebration of an artist stepping into her full creative force. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGang Gang is committed to an inclusive and safe experience for all. Gang Gang Cafe is wheelchair accessible with accessible restrooms. We have zero tolerance for harassment and have support measures in place to ensure everyone’s safety. SUMMARY:James K with Alias Error & friends
DESCRIPTION:This is a really special one for us. James K\, E Fishpool\, Micah Heathwood x Umki. Having them come together at Gang Gang feels like a rare alignment. These are  artists who move with their own gravity and intention. Come\, lean in\, and listen. \n\n\n\nJames K \n\n\n\nA version of james K was born. Comprised of bones\, reactive metals and a larynx with freckled eyes that catalyzes that mix\, she can now see through all the schemes. This is the truth. When she chews gum\, it’s not clear which one of her personas does it. Since their first release in 2013\, describing them separately is grunt work as they switch places\, cosplay each other and would most likely lull you into a lonesome dream. Together\, they know how to produce\, sound\, film and edit. Thus\, they are brought to the table\, performing and DJing in clubs and theaters\, along composers and children alike. She has performed in festivals and venues such as Dekmantel\, Sustain Release\, Mutek\, iii Points\, and Nowadays.. In recent years she has shared the stage with james Ferraro\, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe\, Yves Tumor\, Morton Subotnick\, Nick Leon\, and Priori\, among many others. \n\n\n\nShe has released with labels such as AD 93\, Incienso\, PAN\, iDEAL\, Dial\, UNO\, among others\, and started her label She Rocks! in 2015. Her collaboration with hoodie\, a 10” titled ‘Scorpio\,’ was released in summer 2023 via AD 93\, landing on numerous EOTY lists. She followed up with another single\, trip-hop gem\, ‘Blinkmoth (July Mix)\,’ which has garnered similar attention\, landing at number 2 on Resident Advisor’s ‘Best Tracks of 2024\,’ and numerous other EOY lists\, the former publication naming her producer of the year. K has been a resident on NTS\, with her show\, ‘Trip Lick\,’ since 2019\, and she has provided mix’s for series such as Dekmantel\, Crack and Fact. She is sought after for her signature magnetic vocals\, lyricism and production and\, through collaborations\, has created critically acclaimed music with artists such as Moin\, Fergus Jones + Huerco S.\, Priori\, Special Guest DJ\, Yves Tumor\, Drew McDowall\, LEYA\, and many others. She produces music that makes temporary haven for indomitable lyrics – and these are in constant flux. You can check what they are here: [917 908-1173]. It’s only a part of her fairly detailed world. A world that she abandons and then builds upon. \n\n\n\n𝒮𝑜𝓂𝑒𝓉𝒾𝓂𝑒𝓈 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝒸𝒶𝓃’𝓉 𝒽𝑒𝒶𝓇 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓌𝑜𝓇𝒹𝓈……𝓈𝒾𝓃𝒸𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝓎𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒷𝑒𝓎𝑜𝓃𝒹 𝑒𝓋𝑒𝓇𝓎𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓈𝒽𝑒 𝓌𝒶𝓃𝓉𝓈 𝓉𝑜 𝑔𝒾𝓋𝑒 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝒶 𝒽𝒾𝓃𝓉……𝒾𝓉’𝓈 𝓃𝑜𝓉 𝓅𝓇𝑒𝓉𝓉𝓎 (𝒷𝓊𝓉 𝒾𝓉’𝓈 𝓅𝓇𝑒𝓉𝓉𝓎). \n\n\n\nTake a sip of water before your memory error blinks. Dial to K. Listen to the disfragmented territory and the cast of it she’s making. It might not be what you will have thought tomorrow. \n\n\n\nAlias Error  \n\n\n\nAlias Error\, is a singer\, songwriter and DJ currently based in Berlin. As the lead singer and principal songwriter of the duo a.s.o.\, Alia released an eponymous debut album in 2023 to critical acclaim.  \n\n\n\nIn 2024\, Alias Error kicked off the year collaborating with alt-indie stalwart RIP Swirl\, lending her signature hypnotic vocals to the single “I Found You Out” from his sophomore album Perfectly Blue. Anchored by Alia’s unique voice\, her words speak of restraint and release\, moving fluidly from the elegiac to the euphoric and further cementing Alias Error’s position as an uncompromising rising star in the electronic and alt-pop scene. Most recently\, she featured on JASSS’s Eager Buyers EP\, released to high acclaim in September. The track “It’s A Hole” gestures toward the dark\, atmospheric and cerebral world she will fully inhabit in the coming year. \n\n\n\nAlias Error is now gearing up for her first solo record that will be released in 2026\, The record looks to mould all of Alia’s influences into a singular expression – at once powerful and nimble\, and unlike anything else. Spanning effortlessly between ethereal dream-pop to the more moodier corners of electronic spaces\, Alias Error will be collaborating with acclaimed producers Sepehr\, Priori\, Ben Bondy\, to name a few.  \n\n\n\nE-Fishpool \n\n\n\nE Fishpool is a boundary-pushing live performer\, by  many accounts Eora’s best kept secret. They craft a unique live/hybrid set\, introducing something different each time they perform. E Fishpool was one of the first electronic acts we had a Gang Gang (many years ago now)\, so we are stoked to host them again.  \n\n\n\nMicah Heathwood x Umki \n\n\n\nMicah Heathwood and Umki are two of Canberra’s most loved and unique artists. Micah Heathwood\, through his solo project\, notably toured earlier this year with Kamasi Washington\, while Umki has recently returned from their own international tour in 2025. Both artists are forward-thinking and firmly established within their respective worlds. \n\n\n\nMicah and Umki have performed a small selection of special live shows in the past\, most recently in 2023 alongside YL Hooi. Their collaborations are rare\, making them a must see.  \n\n\n\nGang Gang is committed to an inclusive and safe experience for all. Gang Gang Cafe is wheelchair accessible with accessible restrooms. We have zero tolerance for harassment and have support measures in place to ensure everyone’s safety. For specific accessibility needs or assistance\, please contact us in advance. We aim to make our events enjoyable for everyone. \n\n\n\nGang Gang Cafe acknowledges the Ngunnawal people\, the Traditional Custodians of the land where our events take place. We pay our respects to their Elders past\, present\, and emerging\, and recognise their enduring connection to this land\, waters\, and culture. We are grateful to celebrate music and dance on Ngunnawal Country. \n\n\n\nWe offer equity tickets (low cost) to those who need\, and free tickets to all First Nations\, we request please send an email to gigs@ganggangcafe.com.au to purchase/ receive either ticket.

The album left deep ripples among many\, picking up accolades such as Double J and FBi Radio Feature album and noted by NME as one of their ‘Top 10 album picks’. \n\n\n\nMore about Ruby Gill  \n\n\n\nRuby Gill was born and raised in South Africa\, now based in regional VIC\, and has spent the last 9 years bringing even the most stoic global audiences to tears with her effortless musicality and powerful poetry. SUMMARY:Cut Worms (USA) with special guest John Andrews (USA)
DESCRIPTION:Transmitter is Max Clarke’s fourth full length record as Cut Worms\, due out March 13th via JagJaguwar. Produced by Jeff Tweedy at Wilco’s Loft studio\, Transmitter marks a deepening of Clarke’s abilities and the convergence of two artists whose work searches for grace amid dislocation. Together\, they conjure the ecstatic spirits of power pop and alt rock\, expanding Cut Worms’ vintage palette while reaffirming his gift for timeless songwriting. \n\n\n\nWhile Clarke’s voice and writing formed the framework\, Tweedy’s guitar and bass lines sketched the rooms the songs inhabit. Tweedy’s presence as a producer revealed itself not in heavy-handed choices but in how he coloured spaces and continually offered new textures. Between them\, their like-minded sensibilities bridged a generational gap to create something more nuanced than either might have made alone. \n\n\n\nNow several albums into his career\, Clarke stands fully in command of his craft\, resonating at his own frequency. What began as a passion for bygone pop has matured into a study of endurance itself\, confirming him as a singer-songwriter of lasting depth. Transmitter finds Clarke in full stride\, writing with the conviction of someone who’s made peace with uncertainty. These songs reckon with the cost of comfort and return to the idea that beauty\, connection\, and love are not luxuries but necessities for survival. \n\n\n\nJohn Andrews has spent the past few years tucked away in Red Hook\, Brooklyn – a neighborhood that sits just beyond the natural drift of the city. Once shaped by maritime industry and later a haven for artists in search of vast warehouse space\, its history and isolation give it a quiet magnetism. Streetsweeper\, the fifth album by John Andrews & The Yawns\, reflects that vantage point-tranquil\, self-contained\, and curious about the movements most people overlook. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGang Gang is committed to an inclusive and safe experience for all. Gang Gang Cafe is wheelchair accessible with accessible restrooms. We have zero tolerance for harassment and have support measures in place to ensure everyone’s safety.
